A record proportion of young people in Scotland are securing work, education or training after leaving school, according to official figures published this week.

The statistics show that 91.7 per cent of 2013-14 school leavers were in positive destinations in March 2015 – compared to the figure of 90.4 per cent in the previous year.

The latest summary statistics for attainment, leaver destinations and healthy living also reveal that the number of pupils registered for a free school meal has more than doubled to over 259,000 following the introduction of free meals for all P1-3 pupils. And 98 per cent of schools are now meeting the Scottish Government target on physical education.
